Our famous Friends of the Petrie Museum object handling sessions are returning! We are pleased to have started up the 2025-26 series with Lisa Randisi, who held a session on ‘Ephemera in the Petrie Museum: Between Object and Archive’ on 7th October 2025.
Seminars take place from 11:00am – 12:30pm in the Petrie Museum. All seminars involve contact with museum objects relating to the chosen topic. Object handling sessions have a long history with the Friends, and they provide a unique opportunity for a small group to get up close with objects from the Petrie collection under the guidance of an expert. These sessions have to be limited to between 8-10 Friends, and to spread the opportunities between everyone, we select by ballot. You can find and download the ballot paper below. Successful Friends will be notified 10-14 days before each seminar. Remember to put the dates in your diary!
Please return forms to the Treasurer and Membership Secretary, and mark your envelope ‘ballot’, or you can email your requests if you prefer (to: pmf@friendsofpetrie.org.uk). You will be notified by email or phone 10-14 days before the date of each Seminar if you have won a place, unsuccessful applicants will hear nothing further. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as early as possible so that someone else can be offered the place.
